In My Mailbox (59-60): My Desk Collapsed...

In My Mailbox is a weekly meme hosted by Kristi of The Story Siren, and inspired by Alea at Pop Culture Junkie! Participants are required to tell all about what they've received in the mail--anything bookish!

~~~~~
So that I could have an entirely new angle for IMM pictures! In a heated panic, I threw all my books (that were on the bookshelf that sits on my table) on the floor. Which leaves my bookshelves empty. A truly horrifying sight, if I do say so myself.
If you'd only heard the shriek I made when the desk came tumbling down... I'm way too scared to tell my parents right now. Because then they'll just look at me sternly and declare that I own too many books. Which means no new books for Christmas! ><
Sorry - this turned into a TUESDAY IMM. I couldn't find my cable for a minute there...
* All release dates go in the format (dd/mm/yy)
* Any books I have already read will have a sort of mini-review and the rating I have given it up now until written.
* = Up for swap
----------------
This is over TWO weeks. It probably doesn't look like much, but really? I'm glad that I didn't receive too many new books, since I really want to catch up and lighten the load. This minimal layout is only temporary - I'll be using this if I don't receive too many books.
Q: What's on your Christmas wishlist?
I've already sent my wishlist to my mum - I've got a good mix of contemp/dystopian books, as well as some other things, on the list. The books: Psych Major Syndrome, God is in the Pancakes, The Education of Hailey Kendrick, Blood Red Road, Under the Never Sky.
Happy Reading! Comment with your IMM links.
Oh dear.... I kinda want to laugh, but that would be pretty awful, right? LOL... too late :P Okay, sorry. But wait... I have an idea! You can make use of your too-many-books by stacking them up to act as legs, plop the top of the desk on top of them and pretend your desk is totally fine. Your parents will never know it broke and your bookshelf will also have decreased, inspiring them to buy you lots more for Christmas. Everyone wins :)
Seriously though, hope you don't get in too much trouble! I recently finished Drink Slay Love and adored it. Such a fun, expectedly enjoyable read! I got sent the Sophie Mckenzie books too and am quite eager to dive in. Hope they're good!
YESYESYES for Under the Never Sky on your wishlist! I LOVE <3 I actually prefer to get non-fiction books as gifts, because I don't generally buy those for myself (and the ones I want are expensive haha).
Sorry for the late reply Brodie! It's okay to laugh. Luckily, I didn't get hurt because my desk has several supports around it, so it's still standing up. It's just hideously crooked at the moment. Haha, I like that idea! Don't think I'd have the heart to keep my books under the table though, especially when so many spiders seem to find their way under there. :/
Glad you enjoyed DRINK SLAY LOVE. Where's the review? I'll definitely check it out, and then read the book too, to see what I think in comparison.
UNDER THE NEVER SKY!!!!!!!! ROARRRR gosh, I was never THAT interested, until all those glowing reviews started popping up around the blogosphere like crazy. Non-fiction books . . . can't say I own many of those. Ha! Unless you count my nursing textbooks. What kinds of non-fiction stuff are you talking about?
Oh oh oh! So jealous! I SO want to read Crave and Eat Slay Love!
And I can't believe your desk collapsed! *shrieks!* I hoep you're OK!
Luckily, I survived the collapse of my beloved desk. It's still standing up - it's just leaning in, crooked, about half of the supports have escaped their nail-binding binds. Considering I had over 200 books (?), a computer, a TV & DVD player and other junk and lots of paper balanced on the desk, it was bound to happen someday.
And, if you want, we can organise a swap for those books. ;)
After I've read them, of course. Are you with the Goodreads Aussie Swap group?
oh no! your poor desk O.o haha
cant wait for you to read the dead of the night :)
on my christmas wishlist? hmm, i dont actually want books for christmas this year (weird, right). i honestly just want to kill my TBR a little before i get more books :)
i would like an iPod though (does that count?)
Heh, poor desk indeed.
THE DEAD OF NIGHT is defo high up on my to-read list. Cannot wait to read it!!
I wish I had that resistance to new books that you do. I just can't resist! The books I'm asking for aren't brand new releases though, except for one. I've been waiting on PSYCH MAJOR SYNDROME for ages.
I'm reading Drink Slay Love atm and it's pretty good so far!
