Waiting on Wednesday (45): Fantasy in January

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly meme, hosted by Jill @ Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

The Fire Horse Girl ~ Kay Honeyman

Goodreads

Why am I waiting on this?

Everything about this book. The cover, the title, the synopsis, the genre...

Scarlet

Why am I waiting on this?

Cinder was a great read. I enjoyed it so much, I can't imagine that Meyer would disappoint with this one. Can't wait to delve back into this world!

Waiting on Wednesday (44): On Life

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly meme, hosted by Jill @ Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

Personal note
Alright, one clinical placement block down. Now I've got exams and then one more placement for 2 weeks afterwards. I'll be writing about it all on my Tumblr. I'll be sure to link it forward here on the blog for those who are curious...

The Whole Stupid Way We Are ~ N. Griffin
February 5th 2013 ~ Atheneum Books

The pitch
"What happens when everything you’ve got to give isn’t enough to save someone you love?"

Goodreads

Why am I waiting on this?

That cover is so very pretty, I must have it! Also, the synopsis just appeals to me, speaking as a lover of heartfelt, thought-provoking and melancholy contemporary YA. Definitely add this to your lists! I'm surprised I've only got one friend on Goodreads who has added this one.

Waiting on Wednesday (43) - I'll give you five...

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly meme, hosted by Jill @ Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

So I thought I'd set out my Waiting on Wednesday a bit differently. I can't credit any one person who gave me the idea to do this. But anyway, here are my picks for this week! I'm catching up.
  1. Send Me a Sign by Tiffany Schmidt {gr} - 02/10
I've been hearing great things about this, especially in how it's not just another cancer book.

  2. Keeper of the Lost Cities by Shannon Messenger {gr} - 02/10
I love that cover so much! Also so excited for Shannon! Everyone ought to know about her blog. It causes quite a stir when a fellow blogger gets published, am I right?

  3. Promised (#3, Birthmarked trilogy) by Caragh O'Brien {gr} - 02/10
One of my favourite series ever! I won't be reading this until the UK release, but still, so excited and sad that this is the end.

  4. Live Through This by Mindi Scott {gr} - 02/10
Pretty cover + Contemporary read = Want!

  5.  Time Between Us by Tamara Ireland Stone {gr} - 09/10
Alright, so another nice cover. But this sounds like a YA The Time Traveller's Wife. These kinds of books with time travel in them have been on the up and up. Have you noticed?
So there you go. What books are you anticipating?

Waiting on Wednesday (42): Retreat into art

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly meme, hosted by Jill @ Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

Lovely, Dark and Deep
Amy McNamara
November 2012!! ~ Simon & Schuster

The pitch (from GR)
A resonant debut novel about retreating from the world after losing everything—and the connections that force you to rejoin it.

Why am I waiting on this?

I love the subtle beauty in this cover. I'm not as thrilled about the title, but look at the cover! And the synopsis... I'm hoping that this book delivers, despite some of the advanced feedback on GR. It will also be published in Australia. ;D

Waiting on Wednesday (41): The Dolls are Dying...

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly meme, hosted by Jill @ Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

City of a Thousand Dolls ~ Miriam Forster
February 2013!! ~ Harper Childrens

The pitch
The girl with no past, and no future, may be the only one who can save their lives.

Goodreads

Why am I waiting on this?

Look at the cover!!! That sound was just my jaw hitting the floor. Guys, this looks so so so so so so so so good! Read the synopsis, add it on your GR and do a you-better-not-disappoint-me-you-hunky-book dance!

Waiting on Wednesday (40): Dancing in the storm

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly meme, hosted by Jill @ Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

(click on the cover to go to Goodreads)

AU/UK Cover

Stormdancer ~ Jay Kristoff
September 2012!! ~ (AU) Pan Macmillan

My pitch
Blood red skies; a world impoverished by technological advance (industrialisation!!). A thunder tiger . . . and a sixteen year old girl who will change everything.

Why am I waiting on this?

Oh how I love both of these covers! :D I BEG you to go and check out the full synopsis of this book - it sounds ridiculously good! I have a feeling - going by that synopsis alone - that this book is going to be really descriptive and thoughtfully imagined. I'm just now getting into steampunk, so this is definitely a welcome addition to the bunch and by the sounds of it it's bound to stand out! Also I'm hoping that the Asian influences run farther than just the names of things.

Even if this book sounded like complete rubbish I'd want to read it IF ONLY BECAUSE JAY KRISTOFF SOUNDS AWESOME! His blog, guys. He's got that kind of humour that resonates with me and he just seems altogether chill and laid back... very Aussie. Which he is. He's Aussie, guys! An Aussie author got an international deal. For his debut! If that's not a sure-fire way to tell that this book's going to big, I don't know what will.

Waiting on Wednesday (39): Music and Shadows

What I'm waiting for

Ten Miles Past Normal ~ Frances O'roark Dowell
22/05/2012 ~ Antheneum Books

Hippie parents, music and a smart country girl trying to be normal.

Why am I waiting on this?
This book released last year, but the paperback release is finally here! I like both covers, but this one has a softer look and is, I suppose, prettier. I just . . . that synopsis. I want!

Shadow and Bone ~ Leigh Bardugo
05/06/2012 ~ Henry Holt and Co. (BYR)

A high fantasy of a war-torn world and a heroine whose mysterious powers are the key to salvation.

Why am I waiting on this?

I'm a bit unsure about this one. There has been a lot of positive feedback so far, so maybe my apprehension is for nothing in this case. I just want to read this so I can see what all the hubba is about.

Waiting on Wednesday (38): Collar in Hearts

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill @ Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

My ramblings

The tagline for this post, Collar in Hearts, is of course, a play on the "In Spades" phrase, since spades and hearts are both suits...and yeah, I've got a book with 'heart' in the title, and another with 'collar' in it.. And it could also be taken as "Colour-in hearts" :| Aaaaanyway.

What I'm waiting for

Title: Unbreak My Heart {goodreads}
Author: Melissa C. Walker
Release Date (dd/mm/yyyy): 22/05/2012
Publisher: Bloomsbury USA

Why am I waiting on this?

First off, look at it! Usually I hate pinkish covers, but this one just looks so cute! This book is also kind of different from other contemps from the get-go. The protagonist has suffered the repercussions of cheating on her boyfriend (with his best friend), so she spends the summer on a sailboat with her parents. And yeah. Wow. That's terrible. Read the synopsis instead! :X

This would be a great summer read!

Title: The Girl in the Clockwork Collar {goodreads}
Author: Kady Cross
Release Date (dd/mm/yyyy): 22/05/2012
Publisher: Harlequin Teen

Why am I waiting on this?

I loved the first book, The Girl in the Steel Corset. That should be reason enough, I think. If you're into steampunk, I suggest you at least try this series out. I understand that it might not be for everyone, but I am not the only one who is excited for this release, I'm sure.

Plus I really like that cover.
