My Books in Colour (2): Another book haul

MBiC is a fortnightly post book haul feature, and is inspired by Kristi (The Story Siren) and Alea (Pop Culture Junkie). I love looking at book covers, and especially their colours, and that is where my idea came from.

13th of May 2012 ~ Notes

Thanks for the comments 2 weeks ago, guys! I'm back with part 1 of my May haul. :) It kind of worries me that I may not get really colourful books for a particular fortnight, so maybe I'll have to do something a bit creative with that in the future. Anyway, I got some GREAT books. I also got lazy and didn't change the banner or feature title. I really don't like either. :/

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY, YO!

For Review:

Thanks to...

Allen & Unwin, Bloomsbury, Egmont, Pan Macmillan and Penguin

  • Whisper (#4) by Alyson Noel (01/05/2012) - unsolicited *
  • Disharmony (#1) by Leah Giarratano (23/05/2012) - unsolicited
  • Every Other Day by Jennifer Lynn Barnes (01/05/2012) - requested?
  • Dead Time by Anne Cassidy ARC (01/06/2012) - unsolicited *
  • Burn Mark by Laura Powell (01/07/2012) - requested?
  • Messy (#2) by Heather Cocks & Jessica Morgan - unsolicited *
  • Silhouette by Thalia Kalkipsakis ARC (Jul-12) - requested

I have Silhouette, Burn Mark & Disharmony on my reading pile for June. I will get to reading Every Other Day eventually... the others are up for swap. Gah, I don't know what to do about all my books that are up for swap. Any suggestions?

Bought:

  • Bitter End by Jennifer Brown
I bought Hate List pb a while back, and OMG they're beautiful together. Maybe I'll read them someday, ha!
  • Past Perfect by Leila Sales
So many readers have recommended this book, and the pb was so cheap I just could not pass it up!
  • Insurgent (#2) by Veronica Roth
    Duh.
  • The Season by Sarah MacLean
As a fan of historical fiction, I knew I was going to get a copy of this eventually. Since there was a 10% off promo at TBD, I figured I might as well get the 90c off.. :P

All paperback pre-orders except for Insurgent which is a hardcover pre-order that I ordered months and months ago. I've already read Insurgent - check out my review!

I try to be picky with what I buy. I'll spend days with the basket open on my Firefox window. Anyone else do that? Many times I've taken as long as a week just to get through an order. Some times my final order is completely different to the one I started out with! XD

*ahem* I also bought Ingrid Michaelson's album Human Again, which came out last year. I love her music & personality so, so much. I know it's not likely, but if she were to come touring Australia, I wouldn't even hesitate to grab tix.

Notable tracks, for me, are:
I'm also in love with Live It With Love, but it's not in my normal edition copy. :(

Q: How do you organise your bookshelves?

My system has always been kind of messy, at least compared to many other people around here. I have a bookshelf for my nursing textbooks and the bottom shelves are full of books I've read and reviewed. My TBR bookshelf is organised by how I obtained that book. Top shelf is full of review copies, middle shelf is of books I bought, and the bottom has books I swapped for/won. I keep aside books that are on my reading pile, and special books I want to be reminded to read soon.

Happy Reading! Comment with your IMM links.

Oooohhhh loads of fabulous books this week Cass! :) Looks like you and Lisa both received the ARC of Dead Time? Hmmm.....I wonder why I received the finished copy...
Doesn't DISHARMONY sound AMAZING?!? I can't wait to get started on it! YESS! YOU LOVE HISTORICAL FICTION TOO!?!? YAYYYY! I've never heard of The Season though:/ hmm....must check it out! Wow...your hardcover of Insurgent is SO PRETTY <3 the UK cover is certainly no where near as gorgeous as the US but since I own the UK for insurgent I might as well buy the UK cover of Divergent as well!

Hmm...my bookshelf is just....me putting random books on it depending on my mood :S (every holidays,i re-organise my books!) The top shelf is Harry Potter, hardcovers, and the larger books I have; second shelf is all my favourite books! Then the rest depends on the size, and...colour. And some books are homeless right now since I can't clear off any more shelves since my textbooks/school books need to stay there!

Yesss I've got Disharmony up for early June reading. Unfortunately that's when I get back to uni, so it might take as long as two weeks to finish. =P Yes yes, I LOVE historical fiction! The Season is (I believe) a 2009 release. I just remember Kristi (The Story Siren) hyping that one up. Also there was some book battle, maybe in 2010, and The Season came up top, even among other genre books. So yeah, it's been a while since I've had my eye on that one.

I don't like that for HarperCollins AU they also have the cover change for Insurgent. I got my brother a copy of the AU Divergent last year, so it WON'T MATCH! :( It's good to know there are people who are random with their bookshelf sorting, ha! I also have lots of stacks of books around my room, I count 4!
Ingrid always puts out fantastic albums, but I think Human Again is her best yet! I love "I'm Through" and "Ghost"! :-) Silhouette sounds really good! I look forward to seeing what you think!

I'm listening to Human Again now (for the first time with the new CD). It's such a pretty physical record. :) I forgot about "I'm Through", and incidentally it's playing right now. I love it! It's such a beautiful song. I'll try and remember to email you the review link for "Silhouette" if you do miss it when I post it. :) Thanks for commenting!!
Insurgent is already everywhere, and I still need to wait for it (im)patiently =p
These look so great! Hope you enjoy all your new books =D

About your question, I organize my books based on the publisher or genre, for now. I also divide the translations version and imported ones. My books are not that many, but why suddenly I seem needing another bookshelf, I dunno.lol. One day I will re-arrange them so it would look nicer =)

Hope you get your copy of Insurgent soon! I remember that agonising wait, while everyone had already READ their ARCs of Insurgent (or they'd rushed the bookstore on release date)... I had that system for organising my books for a while, too. Happy reading, thanks for the comment! :)
Oooh, interesting mailbox! Disharmony sounds intriguing. I have The Season too, brought it a couple weeks ago. Past Perfect is FUN and I loved the unique setting :)

Fimally got myself a bookshelf in...March? And I still don't know how to organise them! Too many options and choices..

Aww I wish I could just throw Past Perfect to the top of my reading pile. I'll have to hold out on it for at least until July though. I'm trying to keep to my schedule, which I doubt I'll be able to keep to at this rate. I really hope Disharmony doesn't disappoint!

Hehe. Doesn't a new, empty bookshelf just excite you? Organising them is just so much fun! Up until late last year I would re-organise every week-month. When you do organise it, you MUST post photos! :)
To answer your first question, I also have a major overflowing shelf of books up for swap. Recently, Nomes donated a bunch to her local library... I'm thinking of doing the same...

And, I've probably told you about my four different book piles but here they are again.

1. Reading Pile for the Month (10 Books)
2. All books that I'm planning to read (200 Books)
3. Keepers ie. ARCs and Faves (25+ Books)
4. Swap Shelf

BTW, I'm STILL waiting on my copy of INSURGENT... I'm starting to think it's been lost in the mail. Be sure to read PAST PERFECT next, it's totally cute and definitely not what I was expecting based on the cover art.

I have stacks of swap books. I think I might end up donating someday, too.... It would be nice to have more space in my room lol. Yeah, your organising is similar to mine when you put it like that. I have a reading pile, all my to-read books in one section, favourites (I double stack--books I've read and will keep are at the back) and then swap books.

Where did you buy your copy of Insurgent? :S "Aww I wish I could just throw Past Perfect to the top of my reading pile. I'll have to hold out on it for at least until July though."
Wow so many great books :D ! I just finished Insurgent a few days ago and I can't wait to read the third book now !
Happy reading :) .

For Insurgent: I know! The wait for Book #3!!
Sweet books! Lol, love your reasoning for buying Insurgent ;)

Ah, my bookshelf. The top shelf of my bookcase is full of favorites, the one below is to-be-read books, the next two shelves are various books (books by the same author together) and then the bottom is for the BIG books (like Harry Potter, Eragon, Twilight, et cetera). Then I have a book tower (with smaller paperbacks and a couple hardcovers on the bottom for weight) and then there are random books hidden in my closet. This question made me realize that I really need to start organizing my books better ;)

Happy reading!

Hehe. I really want to get rid of all my "swap" books. I feel that one day my room's just going to sink down and become an underground cave.

Man, it sounds like you don't have many TBR books. Good on you! I'm kind of envious of those who don't have a whole BOOKSHELF of books that need to be read. And yet I continue to buy new ones. ><" It's a disease, I tells ya!
I am one of those people who loved Past Perfect <3 it;s quirky and fun and relaxing.

Am ever so curious about Disharmony. I'll be waiting for some reviews f it :)

I completely forgot how I once wanted to read The Season. I've heard awesome things about it.

my book shelves are organised in genre. Adult books all in one section.

then I have my series together. i have a shelf for Aussie YA. And then my other books, I have hard covers together (so it looks tidy) and then all my books by one author next to each other.

i no longer have a TBR section (woot) got rid of them all. I have less than 10 books I own that I have not read. Also, no longer receiving books for review. so, feel a lot freer about that :)

I know, I know, Nomes. You're part of the reason why I ended up buying a copy. In fact, you influence my book buying habits quite a bit. :)

Disharmony is written by an Australian clinical psychologist! I've read the first chapter and I really like the concept of it, and the writing. It reminds me of something...but I can't remember what. Like, "these kids are special, they must not get into the wrong hands or else evil will prevail".

I'm thinking of wittling down my swap books by donating to a local library. I must have over 70 lying around in my room that I will never get to reading. I don't see how I'll ever get through all my TBR books. So proud of you! Hope you had a fabulous Mother's Day. :)
Ooh so pretty! I love colour coordination. :D I don't really organise my bookshelves, my books are EVERYWHERE. I've been meaning to get a proper bookshelf for ages but that hasn't happened yet. Until then, my books are scattered throughout my place.
My recent post (america the beautiful) review: the selection by kiera cass
I liked Disharmony. It wasn't really the book I was expecting, but it was still good. Silhouette isn't my usual read, but Jen from HGE suggested it and it DOES sound GOOD, so if you get to it before I do... *STALKS*

Past Perfect! I've seen so many people post gushing reviews for that and I love me an adorable contemp. INSUUUUUUUUUUUURGENT! HEE. I get fangirly every time I see that posted :D

So, so many awesome books!!! Hope you enjoy them :D

My bookshelf... I got new new ones last month, so I spent for-freaking-ever playing around and I'm still itching to fix things up. I like to keep all series together, but then height is a MUST. So if book #2 is bigger than book #7, then book #2 will find a home next to book #6. I can't separate series, but everything has to be height arranged or I grow slightly deranged :P And I've also noticed I organise by genre. I have contemporary shelves, dystopian, paranormal romance, etc. And.. um, sometimes by colour too. I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW I WAS THIS PICKY. And then I caught myself switching around a gray spine amongst a very white batch and I thought 'crap, you have issues'. Height, genre, series and colour are REALLY hard to do all together *mutters under breath*

Holy WOW that book haul is something! Burn Mark and Insurgent and Past Perfect AND LAFGAKFAJDHFALF! I'M DYING TO READ DISHARMONY! Happy reading!

Hehe, also: I just bought two new bookshelves (they're replacing my one from before), and I can honestly tell you I have NO system. My hardcovers are together, and series sit together, but othernthan that? Err... organised chaos. I know where everything is and that's enough for me. Also, I have a Harlequin TEEN shelf (it's filled with Maria V. Snyder ) :P
