My Books in Colour (3) + Online Shopping and a Book Cover

MBiC is a fortnightly post book haul feature, and is inspired by Kristi (The Story Siren) and Alea (Pop Culture Junkie). I love looking at book covers, and especially their colours, and that is where my idea came from.

~~~~~
27th of May 2012 ~ Notes
I am back with the second half of my May book haul! It's a short one so I figured I'd talk about other things in this post too.  :)
So first, here are the books.
Admire the crappy photo quality & the ripping of packaging for background making. ADMIRE IT!
  •  Fated (#1) by Alyson Noel || For review *
  • Rapture (#4?) by Lauren Kate || For review *
  • Fixing Delilah by Sarah Ockler || Bought
    • You probably can't see but TBD sent me a bookmark of calorie counts. Trying to send me a message here, book guys? Well I'm not impressed!
Thanks to Macmillan and Random House (respectively). I won't be reading any of them as I am just not interested, however if YOU are, comment and you *may* receive. ;) Clarification: Australia only.
As for 'Fixing Delilah', it was freaking LESS than $5! How can you say no to that? I regret nothing.
Happy reading everybody! Comment in the doobly-doo below.
Share with me what books you got! :)
And now, a semi-explanation...
What time I spend online, much of it is spent window shopping online. I just can't get enough of it! And so, I've been neglecting reading and blogging for a bit. Same with in the blogosphere. I've just started following fashion and DIY-cooking blogs (some were blogs that other book bloggers frequented, specifically the latter!) and other than Aussie blogs or my favourite blogs, I haven't been up to date. I think it may be time to un-follow some blogs since I always hit the 1000+ un-read mark way too easily/quickly. :/
But anyway, yeah, that's where I'm at. So, since my mind is mostly filled with fashion-y stuff right now, I ask you:
Q: What clothing item/accessory do you want right now?
I'm not even talking about something trendy or new here. For me, I want something that I reckon EVERYONE else in the world has but me: a pair of boots. Not high-heels, not too grunge, and since I'm not by any stretch a tall girl, I'm talking ankle boots here.
I have not found "the one" just yet. :( Or even gum boots, which is even better since sometimes jumping on puddles is just irresistible. Am I right?
I'm positively SICK of going out on a rainy (+ wind!) day and have my jeans, flats and feet completely soaked by the end of it. That leads to another question: What do you wear on those rainy + windy days, when you just can't avoid getting wet?
Also...
Also. Loving. This. Cover!
I am a fan of the US cover, but this UK cover just kicks ass! I'm not sure what everyone else thinks of it, but I don't care. I cannot wait to get a copy of this and see it in person. This chick LOOKS like an assassin - hell yeah!
So if you haven't heard this book before, go add it to your Goodreads wishlist. You want to read this book! I am so confident that I will love it since I've already read some of Sarah's writing and I like her style very much. This book needs posters made for it! And bookmarks. And pins. And a Calaena wig! And the novellas in one bound edition. I would PAY MONEY FOR THAT!
ALRIGHT ALRIGHT, I'LL ADD YOUR NAME IN THE "SWEEPSTAKES"! I figured that's the only fair way to decide this. I'll pick out a name (using random.org) next week or something. :)
If no one else asks for Fated though it's yours. :) I'll let you know.
Thanks. Australians only - shipping is super expensive unless you want to pay for it. :P (I recall it's like $20 for slow shipping to US)
I looked up shipping fees for Phili and it still amounts to $15...air mail. I can meet you halfway and pay $7 of it, but yeah. Let me know and I'll add you in.
Yes! I love a good bargain. :) Glad you liked Fixing Delilah!!
Hi Cass! Wow I had no idea. I will have to pass on this one. Thank you and good luck to everyone! :)
Eeeeeeeee! RAPTUREEEEE! Dot said my copy should've arrived on Wed. but it still hasn't arrived :S URGH I HATE LOSING BOOKS IN THE MAIL!!!!LOL Soo...yeahhh...I'm interested in your copy of Rapture :) hehee
Ummmm.....I haven't been out shopping in AGES due to exams and stuff...but considering it's me, i'd want ANYTHING that looks good :) There was this white sweater that was perfect for winter that I found a couple months ago (sigh...that was the last time I set foot in a clothing store and bought something ) but I didn't buy it because well....I bought heels that day :) ooohh BOOTS! Im happy to buy more boots :) but my parents will probably kill me since I already have a few of those :/ ooohh I NEED ANKLE BOOTS TOO! hahahaa we should go out shopping one day and buy them together :D LOL
Hmm.... Rainy days? Gahhhh....half the time, I'm either in school uniform and black school shoes or I stay at home....but Yeahh..I usually wear my boots. Probably not the best idea ( I hate getting them wet!) but they're the best shoes for rainy days tht I own...
Anywayyy sorry for the long comment! But ENJOY YOUR GOODIESS!
Thanks man!!! :D Your comment made my day. <3
See, I used to have my school shoes to fall back on on rainy days but now that I'm out of high school I've got nothing! I'm not about to start wearing my school shoes whenever it's gloomy out. I was rummaging through my sister's stuff the other day (since she just moved out) and boy does she have a lot of boots. But she has big feet... but boots might not be as bad, like if I throw on a couple layers of fat, wooly socks. :P
Added your name to the Rapture list. HOPEFULLY it turns up, but if not then gosh I hope you're lucky enough to get your number picked.
I'm not going to have any holidays or anything for a LOOOOOOONG time. I have I think 1 week after my exams or something... Exams suck, right? I haven't been actual shopping in way too long. And btw you sound like you'd be fun to shop with. Walk in and find something you like, you walk out with something else. Love it! :D
I live in Australia! :) Have you chosen who to give the book to? :)
1 reply · active 670 weeks ago
Um... I didn't expect more than one or two people to be interested in it, so I'll be posting a DIRECT giveaway post. Everyone who already pitched their interest on either book has already been entered, this is just a way for other people who may have skipped my post to enter. I'm thinking next Saturday (02/07) I'll use random.org and pick the winner.
Since I did receive it for review by the publishers I felt that some more exposure would be right. May the odds be ever in your favour!
HI CASS! *WAVES*
Nice post! Don't you just love those less than $5 books? I got two books last week for $7 each! Couldn't resist!
Ooh Rapture! I haven't even finished Fallen. I couldn't finish it tbh. I didn't like it.
But Fated looks really good! I saw it in Kmart the other day but vowed not to buy books until after exams but as you can see i ruined that promise. Still, Fated sounds interesting!
Oh dear god BOOTS!
I need boots too! ANKLE ONES TOO! I AM SHORT TOO!
The other day, i went to uni, and it was raining! My uni is prone to flooding. I WAS WEARING SHIN LENGTH BOOT AND THEY WERE SOAKING WET. BOOTS WET, SOCKS WET, FEET WET, CLOTHES WET. THE WORST.
XD It's so so hard not to spend when there's a bargain afoot! How's the blogging going? I didn't even know you'd already gotten it all set up again! Good on ya. I'll do all the reading & commenting dealio after Wednesday. ;) Will definitely go follow you now though.
I've added you to the Fated list. ;)
Ack! Your uni was FLOODING?! Ay ay ay. Poor woman. Poor uni...? :P Welp, at least that's in the past. You'll be telling your grandkids one day about that one day at uni when you just couldn't avoid the wet. And they will fall asleep because you are boring the pants off of them.
Ikr! I love finding book bargains! My best friend is a whizz at catching bargains! I'm not even joking! She gets books for $3! Sometimes even in the cents! Crazy!
The blogging is going well! Thanks again for all those awesome links! I went through each one! Haha! Thank you :D Thanks for the follow too! Got me to 10! Double digits :P hehe.
Oh coolies! Thanks!
YES! there was a few photos on facebook where the car park was literally flooding, no joke! It was hilarious! There's a massive sign that says "prone to flooding" LOL. Poor me indeed! I thought boots were good in wet weather but oop ,no, they just got soaked! need gumboots hehe.
HAHAHAH OMG I LOL'D!! I'll probably be boring them with everything i say, not just wet weather stories! hehe
Preorder + 10% discount = $4.70 or something. I have the quote here somewhere... It was $4.82. Couldn't pass that up!
Those are awesome things on your wishlist. Those Doc Martens look kinda expensive... I need to get onto this nail polish biz. I really like the one you've got your eye on. ;) It's super funky!
I have a Pinterest acc but I haven't done any pinning yet, just liked and followed here and there. I'll have to find the time to do that!
When I saw Rapture I tried not to groan, I'm not a fan of her books at all so good on you for wanting to give it away!
I am interested in Fixing Delilah and I see it's just over $5 from the Book depo, I am seriously tempted to order!
I found some great boots last year (non-leather of course) and I got them in brown and black, they're great on rainy days. Otherwise I'm in flats and I try to avoid puddles!
Well to be fair I haven't tried the series out, but honestly I just don't want to. It's just not the kind of book I normally go for and I know there are other people out there who would kill for it, so yeah. I should be giving away heaps more books but I'm super lazy like that. :P
I say go for the $5 book! Seriously, if I don't end up liking it, at least it was dirt cheap. I don't have ANY boots (there are too many heeled boots and they rise too high so I just haven't found any that I think would suit me). Rain is okay, but when you add wind into the equation -- THAT'S when things get ugly.
EEEEEEEEE! RAAAAAAAPTURREEEE! WANT WANT WANT WANT WANT!
OK, seriously? US cover of Throne of Glass=pretty and YAish and appealing enough.. UK cover? BADASS. LOVE.
LOLS! Fear not, I've added you to the list.
I know, right? That Throne of Glass UK cover is just TOO MUCH! I'm going to start crying when I get a copy in the mail. *hint hint* Have you seen the e-sampler? I've had it open on my Firefox browser for days now. I just, UGH I NEED TO READ THE REST OF THE E-NOVELLAS FIRST!
I'd like a pair of dress boots! Only I'd like mine to be the tall, calf-high type since I am quite tall, LOL. But I have a large shoe size and weak ankles so finding boots is not easy. *sighs* I wish you the best in your quest for them!
Also, I agree, the UK cover of Throne of Glass is very cool. Frankly I was a little disappointed by the US cover — it's pretty, sure, but does that girl really look like she could take *anyone* on? I have a hard time believing she can even wield that dagger she's got strapped to her arm. Whereas with the UK one...I would so totally stay out of that girl's way. She looks deadly. Which is a good thing, because she's an assassin!!
Good luck with finding those dream boots of yours! I don't know why but now I'm picturing you (though I don't know what you look like) as Taylor Swift. :P
My thoughts exactly on the Throne of Glass cover. I understand that Celaena's meant to be fiercely pretty (+ blonde, so they got that right), but she doesn't have that EDGE! The UK Celaena is OUT. FOR. BLOOD!
OMG RAPTURE!!! I am dying to read that book. I was supposed to receive a review copy from Random House but I have no idea why I haven't received it yet :( Anyway, AWESOME BOOK HAUL! I particularly hope you enjoy Fixing Delilah! ;) <3
