Waiting on Wednesday (13): Delirium

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill @ Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

I actually JUST finished reading the e-ARC of Delirium, and it is definitely a book worthy for this week's WoW feature. I'm putting this one on my birthday wishlist!

Title: Delirium {goodreads}
Author: Lauren Oliver
Release Date: February 2011
Why? I loved Before I Fall--one of my favourite books; and I love dystopian novels. The cover is fabulous - simple, but unique. I like the concept of love being a disease, and having a cure for it. Lauren did a fabulous job of painting a realistic portrayal of a society that controls love, or amor Deliria Nervosa. Loved it. I can't wait to have a physical copy in my hands!

Synopsis (Goodreads):

Before scientists found the cure, people thought love was a good thing. They didn’t understand that once love -the deliria- blooms in your blood, there is no escaping its hold. Things are different now. Scientists are able to eradicate love, and the governments demands that all citizens receive the cure upon turning eighteen. Lena Holway has always looked forward to the day when she’ll be cured. A life without love is a life without pain: safe, measured, predictable, and happy.

But with ninety-five days left until her treatment, Lena does the unthinkable: She falls in love.

Lauren Oliver has JUST uncovered the dust cover jacket for Delirium! {facebook page} {direct link}

I'm waiting for Delirium, too. Tried to get it from NetGalley, but wasn't approved. :( Guess I'll just have to wait!

I emailed them personally before, because I was having problems with it, too.

Apparently when accepting or declining requests, publishers can only see "name" and "company", or something; SO, along with mentioning and linking to your blog in your profile, also have it for your company name. Good luck!
Oh, I'm getting an ARC of Delirium, so I might be switching to reading that instead of the eARC I got! I am so excited! Great WoW pick, Cass! wow, I love the jacket cover, it looks so pretty...

Lucky duck! Wish I lived in the US; Harper US wouldn't send something as big as Delirium overseas, methinks. Or anything for that matter. Hope you love it, too! It's amazing. It really sucks though; now that I've read it, I (along with the other crazy people out there who have read the ARC, digital or physical) have to wait like a year and a half to find out what happens next! :S
Great pick Cass, this one sounds really interesting and like you I love dystopian novels. I haven't decided yet if I should request it from NetGalley I don't like reading from my computer it really dodges up my eyes. Totally off topic here but how are your exams going?

Maybe you could take part in an ARC tour? (Good Golly Miss Holly) I was surprised how quickly I got through it, considering it was on the computer, but I survived. :/ NetGalley is good, but I really do wish I had an e-reader. :/ Maybe one of these days I'll win a kindle ROFL. Do they work with NetGalley? I wonder...

I JUST finished my last one! I'm sure I screwed things up, so I probably won't be blogging as much during exam results time (I'll just drown my sorrows in books :P), but it's over!
It really does suck that the only way for us Aussies to read Delirium, or pretty much any Harper Teen or US-only or Aussie-later titles, is to read an e-galley or to win a contest. :/ I thought Delirium was well worth-it. I bumped it up at least 9 TBR places in my mind. Well, even if you don't end up taking Netgalley, it'll be WELL worth the wait. Yeah, Dystopia is the way of the future. (That was lame...)

Over! No more exams. Now I have NaNoWriMo! :P And then formal and sign-out, and then results, and by then I'll have hit the highway.
Can't wait to read this one either. Loved Before I Fall, so I am really excited to see what Oliver's next book is like. Great pick. Also enjoyed your review of Big Nate

You'll love Delirium. I'm 110% certain.

Just wish I had a physical ARC rather than the e-galley, because I'd probably re-read it if I could . . . but I'm not going to re-read it on the computer! Oh, just thinking of it brings tears to my eyes. If you have an e-reader, you should definitely go about checking it out on Netgalley.
Great pick this week! I'm definitely excited for this one, too :)

YES! I am SO excited for this one and probably even more excited because I have to listen to all you lucky book bloggers talk about how awesome it is, hahaha. And the dust jacket looks GREAT. YAY. :) Thanks for sharing!

Here's what I'm waiting for this week :)
haha I was seriously about to pick Delirium as my WOW this week. I had it down to delirium and the one I actually chose :) my point is.. I am pumped for Delirium too! :)
I liked Delirium too. I'll be interested to know what you think of Matched since you are reading that now. I've heard they are similar. Here's my WoW.
I've never read dystopian, but I've been hearing about it left and right, and I've seen this book all over the place. Guess I'll need to check them both out!

Here's what I'm waiting for this week!
