In My Mailbox (18)

In My Mailbox is a weekly meme hosted by Kristi of The Story Siren, and inspired by Alea at Pop Culture Junkie!

THE VLOG
Whoa, hey! A vlog? Click click.

Um. The formatting isn't working on me again. :\

For Review:

{gr}
- Freefall by Mindi Scott, released in Australia: November 2010. Thanks to Simon & Schuster for sending this along! Contemps Challenge!
I welcome YA-novels-with-male-protagonists. And Freefall is a debut novel, and it's contemporary! I've been dying to read this for ever!

{gr}
- Between Shades of Gray ARC by Ruta Sepetys, for release in Australia: April 2011. Thanks to Penguin Australia for the proof!

I'm really surprised there even is an ARC of this. Australian releases don't get ARCs. I'm not complaining though. I'm super excited to read this one, and urge you to watch the trailer! It's heartbreaking, educational and really drew me in to this book.

These two were sneak-attacks. I thought I'd only received my Secret Santa gift. I wasn't even going to do an IMM, until the mailman came on a Saturday to save the week. ♥

Bought:

Nothing. I've been buying stuff for other people.

Gasp! Nothing.

This week, rather than the systematic "What did you get in your mailbox this week?", I'll ask you a real question:

Readers--
What is your all-time, ultimate, recommended YA novel?

What's going on this week / What happened since last IMM?
  • Currently Reading: Twenty Boy Summer by Sarah Ockler
  • Next up: I'm . . . not sure.
  • Reviewed: The Chosen One by Carol Lynch Williams, The Lying Game by Sara Shepard
  • Upcoming Reviews: Radiance by Alyson Noel

Great books and such this week. I really have to read Freefall. Shades of Gray sounds really good. Happy Reading!
My all-time fav. YA novel? Ugh...that's so hard. Maybe The Giver. I did love Jellicoe Road. There's always the Harry Potter books - the last 3 are more YA.
What is yours?
My IMM
The Hunger Games and Freefall are both excellent reads. Hope you enjoy! :)
Oo great mailbox! Between Shades of Gray sounds really interesting! And that Secret Santa program sounds fun! Incidentally, my all-time favorite YA is probably The Hunger Games ;-) I hope you enjoy!
Hey. You have a good mail box.
My all time favorite YA novel is Jellicoe Road by Melina Marchetta. Its amazing ♥
Whooo hoo, glad your pressie made it!!!! :) Enjoy! I'd been stalking your blog hoping it arrived safely, haha!

My all time favourite read is the Iron Fey series by Julie Kagawa ;)
Between Shades of Grey looks awesome! Hope you have a fab week!

Here's what's in my mailbox this week!
You are going to love Hunger Games, it is an incredible read. I went sleepless to try to finish it in one reading and had to do the same with the next 2 books. I looked like a Zombie but loved the aftermath from reading Collins.
Treefall looks amazing and the Hunger Games is just..wow! I just finished it and was blown away by how good it is. Enjoy your books!
I want to read both Freefall and Shades of Grey, I've heard great things about both. Hopefully I get to them soon...

As for all time favorite YA, I have to go with the Thief series by Megan Whalen Turner. I LOVE that series, especially the third, King of Attolia. And then Unwind by Neal Shusterman. Love him, too.
I've heard a lot about Between Shades of Gray recently, it looks really good. I still haven't read the Hunger Games yet!

I have to admit that when I entered the competition on Susanne's FB page, I had onyl just discovered her and her books so In The Shadow Of The Lamp was my first of hers. All the rest are at the top of my christmas book wishlist! I'm really glad she's sending you an ARC and that her longer term fans can get an early look too (I felt a bit bad about that!) I hope it arrives soon and I can't wait to hear what you think about it :)
